422 Machakos County Health Workers To Be Promoted On Friday Next Week

Speaking on Thursday while holding a press conference at her office in Miwani Machakos, Governor Wavinya Ndeti said that an agreement between her office and County Health workers was reached concerning their promotions.


The Health workers had complained that they had served for long: some over 10 years without promotions, a matter that Governor Wavinya took to her hands swiftly.

"I am happy to announce that today we have reached an agreement with Machakos County Health workers concerning their promotions which are due and well-deserved.Some of the Health workers have gone for ten years without promotion which is against fair labour practice"- said Governor Wavinya

The County Health workers had threatened to hold peaceful protests to push for hearing of their grievances. However, Governor Wavinya Ndeti asked them to immediately call off their planned strike as promotion letters of 422 Health workers will be ready by Friday next week.

She went ahead assuring all workers in the county that they will look into their welfare rightfully and swiftly.


Machakos DG Francis Mwangangi who was present also, said that a room for dialogue should always be priotized when planning for protests, saying that the County Government is always ready to have a dialogue with anyone having challenges.


"Next time, call for dialogue first. We are always ready to have a talk and solve any alarming problems"- said Mwangangi

"We have decided to suspend our seven days strike notice after the county government has given us an offer to issue promotion letters to the deserving employees from next week Friday or even earlier",said the KMPDU chairman.

Dr. Okumu thanked Governor Wavinya for committing to ensure their will be no discrimination in the promotion of health workers across the board.
