"Government will not allow the opposition to engage in violent protests"- Mwengi Mutuse

He says nothing is worth losing the life of a fellow citizen to political supremacy wars.

"Politics come and go but death is permanent. Mombasa road is the cash crop of most people of Ukambani. We trade with those traveling on the road" he said

The MP has warned closing Mombasa road means losing money for the galant women & other traders.

He said cost of living can’t be brought down through demonstrations saying Government has plans and is already bringing down the cost of food and other common user items. Rome was not built in a day.

Said Mwengi,it’s for these reasons that we, as Lower Eastern Kenya Kwanza MPs, are vehemently opposed to violent and destructive demonstrations"

He urged the people to keep off demonstrations adding that they are ready to present any grievances the region has to the President and his government for possible solutions.

The Legislator said President Ruto listens to genuine, Mwananchi centered concerns.

Meanwhile,Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary (CS) Professor Kithure Kindiki has warned against the Azimio-led demonstrations that are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week.

Speaking during a Church Service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Kaanwa in Tharaka Nithi County, Kindiki said he will not allow any attempts to disrupt public order and endanger lives by people hiding under the constitution.

“We have people who are hiding behind the constitution, especially on human rights, claiming that they have freedom to demonstrate, to destroy other people’s property, and to block roads.

Said Kindiki,I want to say that we will smoke them out from where they are hiding under the constitution to commit crimes,”.

The CS added that based on his training, he has more understanding of the Kenyan constitution than any of the organizers of the demos and that he will be the last one to break it.
