On Sartuday, Machakos County Governor Wavinya Ndeti launched the distribution of agricultural inputs worth Kshs 81.5 million shillings at White House.
According to Governor Wavinya Ndeti, the initiative will benefit close to 10,000 households in Kola, Kalama, Masii, and Ikombe wards in Machakos County
"My goal is to ensure a food-secure county and eradicate poverty in line with my government's 'Chakula Mezani,Pesa Mfukoni' vision"- added Wavinya
The inputs and items distributed to 367 farmer groups include 50,307 one-month old Kienyeji chicks,61 Sahiwal yearling cows,1,725 goats,1,827 bags of assorted fertilizer,540 ox-drawn ploughs, and 1144 bags of chicken feeds among others.
Agriculture CEC Joel Nzomo said the initiative was to ensure that farmers recover from the effects of the four-year drought which has ravanged the region in the recent past.
Governor Wavinya Ndeti is committed to ensuring that she serves Machakos people rightfully and fruitfully.
During her inauguration ceremony that was held at Kenyatta Stadium last year after the general elections, Wavinya vowed to make sure that Agriculture sector is well led for it's the backbone of living
