Mwengi Mutuse-Kibwezi West MP Aspirant on Sunday called the Government to roll out school feeding program urgently, saying that there is food shortage
"In my meet the people tours the last few days, I have been told, especially by women, that there is biting shortage of food in our households. As an intervention, and to retain children in schools, I urge the national government to roll out a special school feeding program for all our primary and day secondary schools"-said Mwengi Mutuse
Following the looming hunger,the MP Aspirant Mwengi Mutuse said;
"I also urge the government and humanitarian organizations to consider giving food to the communities so that our people are cushioned from this looming hunger"
According to Mutuse,there is need for permanent solutions to food insecurity situation
"I urge this cognizant of the fact that our people need permanent solutions to the food insecurity situation. I’m also cognizant of the fact that hunger, is not just about lack of rains, but a reflection of lack of money in our people’s pocket, because those who have money can buy food"
"In the meantime however, it is important that the emergency food insecurity situation be addressed pragmatically in the manner I have proposed herein"-said Mwengi
With the schools re-opening as from Monday,Mwengi said that it is vital to implement the school feeding program immediately
"This is especially urgent as schools open this week"
Talking to Rada TV, a parent revealed that as parents they are more stressed due to food insecurity situation, asking the government to intervene
"Schools are set to re-open this week.We are wondering as parents what to do now.This is so serious. Why did school feeding program stop? "-said a parent
According to muia,parent,the school feeding program will help students learn and comfortably be at school,saying that if the government doesn't roll out the school feeding program, there is fear of many students starving during to food shortage challenges
