On Friday 25th November 2022, Kenya Medical Training College ( KMTC ) Machakos Branch, held a free medical camp at Mulu Mutisya Gardens in Machakos Town

The medical camp which focused on screening for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD’s) such as Hypertension and Diabetes saw over 300 people of varied demographics benefit from free consultation, diagnosis and medication.

Speaking during the event, Mr. Mathew - Head,KMTC MACHAKOS BRANCH, said that their aim is transforming lives of citizens in Machakos and across the country.

" This initiative is part of the efforts in making quality healthcare accessible and affordable to all Kenyans.”- said Mathew

He went on revealing that quality healthcare remains a challenge for many Kenyans in several parts of the country and it is for this reason that KMTC MACHAKOS BRANCH organized free medical camp to ensure community members in need benefit from these services.

Hundreds of residents turned up for the camp where they were screened for various ailments

Mr.Mathew used the day's opportunity to sensitise residents who are interested in pursuing medical related courses, to join such institutions like KMTC

According to Mr.Mathew, the need to organise the event arose from the huge influx of patients in the region who cannot afford basic medical needs.

“Having realised that the majority were sick and could not afford treatment, the management chose to do this event to ensure that we have a healthy and productive community,” he said.

The beneficiaries thanked the medics and KMTC MACHAKOS BRANCH specifically for volunteering to help residents

" As at now the doctors in the area hospitals are on strike. We really thank you KMTC for coming to our rescue. We could not afford private hospitals but you've brought free medication to us.Thanks alot"- said residents

Mr Robert Mutuku, 63, who was a beneficiary of the free medical camp, thanked the KMTC management for the initiative.

“I am poor and have no money to seek treatment.I am not able to cater for my medical expenses, but KMTC came to my rescue” he said.
