Kyee Mbatha(Captain Green)- Young Environmentalist Who Has Planted Over 200,000 Trees



Environmental conservation is a practice that paves the way for protecting the environment and natural resources on individual,organisational as well as government levels


Human existence is quite impossible without the presence of a healthy ecosystem

In our story today,we feature Kyee Mbatha,majorly known as Captain Green- Young Environmentalist in Kenya

The Young Environmentalist ,Kyee Mbatha aims to restore forest cover in Eastern Region of Kenya


He has for years tied himself to tree planting, aiming to make Eastern Region and the whole country generally Green

It's vital to join hands together to bring climate change under control


Due to high rate of deforestation, the country is experiencing long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns

Kyee Mbatha has planted over 200,000 trees so far across Eastern Region of Kenya

On Friday 11th November 200 morning,Kyee Mbatha planted trees at Mulolongo Police Station and St.Augustine Mlolongo High School

According to Kyee,his tap name 'Captain Green ' came out of his loyal efforts on environmental conservation


Kyee Mbatha graduated from Egerton University with a Bachelor of Science and EcoTourism, 9 years ago


He has been donating 10% of his salary on tree planting exercises and projects so as to help tame climate change


According to Kyee,the reason as to why the country is experiencing drought is because of high rate of deforestation

Addressing the Media on Friday at Mlolongo Police station during a tree planting exercise, he revealed that the country is struggling at 6.99% of forest cover


"It has been a big challenge to the government trying to push to see if we can hit our target of 10% forest cover "- said Kyee


According to him,planting trees is a major way of conserving the environment


"Trees are carbon receptance. With many trees,we could absorb as much carbon"

He commenced his tree planting journey through buying seedlings and donating to various institutions, using his 10% monthly income


Mlolongo OCS Joakim Kangangi congratulated Kyee Mbatha for his tireless efforts in conserving the environment, revealing his total happiness for them as Mlolongo Police Station are part of the simultaneous environmental conservation program
