A team of officers from the department of Water,Environment and Climate Change -Machakos County, led by Minister Catherine Mutanu Raphael and Chief Officers,on Wednesday, they visited Katelembo Center of Exellence in Mua Ward and participated in a tree growing exercise with students from the school.
This initiative was planned and organized by Minisiter Hon Catherine Mutanu in partnership with My Green Institution led by Mr.Raphael Kyee( Captain Green)
Five hundred tree(500) seedlings from different species were planted at the school's compound as part of National Government initiative of increasing overall country wide forest cover to 30% and climate mitigation measures.
The team later visited Kyai Dam(Mua ward) to inspect ongoing desilting works being carried out by the department and held public participation with the locals to assess the progress of works.
