MWENGI MUTUSE- KIBWEZI WEST MP LAUNCHES RELIEF FOOD DISTRIBUTION TO VULNERABLE FAMILIES

This morning, Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse launched relief food distribution to vulnerable families in Kibwezi West Constituency. Todays launch will cover over 3,000 needy families in Kikumbulyu North and South wards.

The program will later extend to Nguu/ Masumba, Emali/Mulala, Makindu and Nguumo wards.

He thanked President William Samoei Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for acceding to his request for more food to his constituents. "On behalf of my people, we are grateful"

"While these interventions are most welcome, we are also working on long term measures to provide water for irrigation so that we permanently pull our people from the perennial shame of relying on relief food.

We are in discussions with the national government to have one of the “100 BIG dams” announced by the President constructed in Kibwezi. We have also requested relevant state departments to consider utilizing available huge chunks of land at TARDA (mbosoni) in Kibwezi, Univeristy of Nairobi field station at Kasayani and UKAI land in Emali for the proposed irrigation led food security program. I’m hopeful, these, among other initiatives will bear fruit in due course.

Thank you DCC Kibwezi Mr. Paul Khaoya, ACC, Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs and Wazee wa vijiji for a good job of identifying the vulnerable and for a well organized event.

Thank you my good friends MCA’s Hon. Jackson Mbalu and Hon. Kalunda wa Kalunda for accompanying me and for always being on the side of the people.

We pray that the current rains resume so that farmers may get some harvest to take them through the year. In the meantime, I will look for more food donations to continue cushioning the vulnerable."- Mwengi Mutuse
