A host of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and international health organisations have offered to support the county governor's agenda on quality healthcare.
Governor Wavinya Ndeti, who hosted representatives from multiple organizations in her Machakos office Thursday morning, said the collaboration between her government and development partners was key in upscaling health services provision in the county.
"I thank these organizations for commiting collosal amounts of money towards health services. These will go a long way in ensuring our people are taken care of," she said.
Among the organizations that penned a partnership deal with the county government is, Center for International Health, Education and Biosafety (CIHEB), which will inject sh 650 million within a period of five years.
CHIEB will implement a program to support provision of comprehensive HIV and TB prevention and treatment services.
At the same time, the Catholic Medical Missions Board (CMMB) will fund implementation of TB activities in the county under the Funding Model of Global Fund TB, HIV/AIDS and malaria.
The resource envelope for this program is capped at sh 40 million, and will run for three years.
Another NGO, Respiratory Society of Kenya (RESOK) will also contribute sh 10.4 million for a three year program to support TB, malaria and HIV prevention, and management.
Other organizations funding health activities include Center for Health Solutions Kenya (sh 4.4 million), By Youth Side (sh 42 million) and Hellen Keller International (sh 18 million).
Wavinya said her administration will continue to establish more strategic partnerships in order to bridge the huge resources gap required in sustaining the healthcare services provision.
The event was witnessed by Health CEC, Dr Daniel Yumbya and other senior staff drawn from the county health department.
