Yatta MP Robert Basil Says The Government Should Strengthen Helb Rather Than Hustler Fund

Following President William Ruto's plan to abolish HELB, Yatta MP Robert Basil condemned it in totality, saying that it's killing dreams of learners, since not all come from well economically stable families. Besides, the plan of government to introduce scholarships to the very needy students will open a padorax box of corruption and negative ethnicity where students from well connected families will be selected for full scholarships in the name

of been “needy” students.

Basil pointed out that instead of the government strengthening re-introducting a parallel fund called Hustler Fund, it should have strengthened uwezo funds and women enterprise funds and use the surplus funds to strengthen Helb and cdf Bursary Funds, so as to make sure of full massive support on Education.

According Basil, Kenya should not be a country for only the rich people, but it should also accommodate the less privileged ones.

Failing to strengthen HELB is killing dreams and potentials of many learners in the country, who are aiming for the best not only for themselves, but also for the whole Nation. Hon Basil reminded Ruto that him and others of his time benefitted from Boom( free education funds that was given to all students) whilst Hon Basil and others benefitted from

HELB.

"The President needs to stand up and support HELB instead of abolishing it"- said Basil

He was addressing the Media at Nairobi, earlier today together with other MPs and many other leaders who felt that Ruto's plan to abolish HELB , was not a good move
